An unstated assumption here is that buying individual stocks is a good idea. For almost any nonprofessional investor, this is unlikely to be a good idea.

In any stock transaction, there are two sides. You're betting it's a good buy while the other party is betting it's a good sell.

If you're not a pro and don't have a bench of analysts supporting you, the likelihood is low that you're right and the pro on the other side of the trade is wrong.
