As I've written in several articles, Edumnds data show that buying new and driving until a car is 10 years old is less expensive on average per year (in total cost of ownership) than buying 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5-year-old cars and replacing them when they're 10 years old.

You'll still be driving your little used Hondas or Mazdas (*shudder* re Mazda ;)) most of the time. It's just that they'll be new when you get them, and their average age during your ownership will be slightly lower...
