As much as it would make life easier, simple answers to complex questions simply don't work.

There are over a billion muslims in the world. Saying that all of them, most of them, or even a large minority of them are intrinsically unable to live in peace with other religions is simply untrue and intellectually lazy.

Are there lots of extremists among them who can't or won't accept the West as it is and leave it be? Sure.

Are there far too many who choose to become "martyrs" to that religious extremist cause? Sure.

But the distance from there to simply writing off over a billion people as irredeemable is a dangerous and morally inexcusable path.
