As someone with a physics PhD, I think the breadth of opportunities opened by a BSc in physics vs. in CS is less, even if you don't account for the difficulty of the courses you're required to complete.
My advice to parents of kids considering a physics degree has always been this - absolutely yes, if physics is the only thing your kid wants to do in life. Otherwise, there are plenty of easier degrees to pursue that offer at least as many opportunities, if not more.
