As you say, someone will have to feel some pain. The question is what makes the most sense.

Back when SS was started the average time in retirement was much shorter, so raising the FRA makes the most sense to me.

However, keeping the early retirement age at 62 makes sense because many can't work past that age, whether for health or other reasons.

Regardless, nobody in DC is asking me what they should do, so we'll just have to wait and see.
