Brilliantly argued! I recall once hearing an exercise in which participants were asked to choose between chocolate and vanilla. The trick was that as soon as they explained their reasons, the person running the exercise failed them, because they went from a choice (driven solely by their saying that was their choice) to a decision driven by external factors. Next, he told them, "Chocolate, choose!" His point there was that even if you have only one possible course of action, you still have the choice to accept it or resist and be miserable over it.
