Very interesting read Brian, and lots of great nuggets of wisdom. The one thing I’d quibble with is where you say that Social Security will cover a lot of your retirement expenses. Yeah, no. Even if they don’t cut benefits, unless your lifetime income is very low, Social Security will replace about a third or less of your income. And if Congress doesn’t get their act together (because they always do, right?) in about 12 years there will need to be an across the board benefits cut of 23%. Of course, they won’t want to cut for current or soon to be retirees, so the rest of us might see a 30% or greater cut. Just sayin’...
