As for the data about the top 1% having a mean of $22M, I'm not surprised by that. Especially in that top percentile, the extreme wealth of the very top 0.1% greatly skews things.
For example, just the top 400 are worth $4.5 trillion! (https://www.forbes.com/forbes-400/). Divide that by 1.5 million and you get a $3M contribution to the mean of the top 1%.
