Excellent idea! And one that can be adapted to almost any significant life change.

Budget like we have kids. Another mental shift will be to put aside an imaginary childcare cost to pretend like we have kids. Getting used to this budget will help us prepare for a more seamless transition. At least as seamless as we can hope for.
