First, regarding the ratio of one-year-old used EVs to new ones was a hypothesis from my friend, which as I wrote in the article, turns out to not be the case. In fact, that ratio is even higher for many ICE cars. So, no, that’s not what I said.

My point wasn’t that nobody should buy EVs, and not even that EVs are a problem. It’s simply that between the higher initial cost, the very high cost of charging away from home, and the 5–10x longer charging time vs. filling up a gas tank, EVs are not yet where most people should be interested in them, despite the lower ongoing maintenance costs.

I don’t doubt those very reasons (along with range anxiety) are why EVs are still a niche market.

Having said all that, I hope that now that you’ve concluded the whole article was a piece of crap, you’ve gotten that off your chest and can find others that are more to your liking. Have a great rest of your weekend.
