I highly recommend reading Terrry Real's several books. A well-known couples therapist who started the "Relational Life Institute," he often speaks about how the patriarchy continually harms both young boys and young girls and, as we damaged kids grow up, our resulting behaviors and attitudes lead to the sort of society you describe.
