I mostly agree, but... I don't think becoming 100% debt-free is a useful goal for most, especially since prepaying your mortgage is financially worse than paying it on the required schedule (see why here: https://medium.com/financial-strategy/why-prepaying-your-mortgage-is-almost-always-a-terrible-idea-88fa87977d77).

Having said that, getting your high-interest debt (think credit cards and unsecured loans) down to zero and keeping them there is a really important goal to prioritize.
