I support NASA Astrophysics Division's Physics of the Cosmos and Cosmic Origins Program Office's Technology Development Manager. The work requires strong technical/science skills and knowledge, project management experience is helpful, systems engineering experience is extremely helpful, good written and verbal communication skills are crucial, and experience working at or with NASA is very helpful too. Another aspect of the work is supporting government contractors in writing or reviewing the technical volumes of their engineering services contract proposals (responding to NASA RFOs for multi-year multi-hundred-million-dollar contracts). That latter part is, these days, just the gravy (as in occasional and very part time) since the government work is full time.
