I think it's a personal preference kind of thing Graeme, and perhaps cultural. It also depends on how frequently you need to charge. Spending 20-30 minutes waiting once a week isn't terrible (though all far less convenient than 3 minutes to fill gas). Doing it every day or two gets old.
