I understand and accept that rapid trading isn't for the average Joe, or in fact for almost anyone else. My question is related to the rapidity with which new technologies and new companies crop up, and how that can impact the profitability of existing companies. If that is happening more frequently now than it did in the 1950s or even 1990s, might that explain why the holding period for most stocks has decreased?
