I understand and respect your position on this. I think that she may have worded it overly strong but was coming from a good place - helping her client enjoy his wealth appropriately.

Regarding your point of never hiring someone less wealthy than you to manage your money, in your case that makes perfect sense, since you're an expert in managing money and investing. However, if someone isn't expert in that, say they made their money as a surgeon or attorney, wouldn't it make sense to hire someone whose expertise is around money management, even if they haven't yet built great wealth?

I hire such experts by investing in mutual funds, and I may well be wealthier than they are - I have no idea what their net worth is.
