I wonder what Medium will do when they find that their platform has become a place where hundreds of thousands of AI-driven bots try to game the system by reading specific AI-generated "stories," highlighting them, commenting on them, etc. to garner at least a buck a month over the $5 investment it takes.

IMHO that is what will be the death knell for this otherwise (mostly) noble experiment.
