If you meant that writers should have to subscribe, at $5/month or $50/year, I can see that as plausible. In fact, that's what I've been doing since day 1.

What I (mis?)understood from your comment was that you thought Medium should charge writers for each article they publish on the platform. If they did that, I'd be gone, just as a matter of principle if nothing else.
