It's perfectly fine to spend money on things, if they make you happy. For example, you can buy a nicer home if you can reasonably afford it and it makes you happier. Same thing with a nicer car. If you can reasonably afford it and it will make you happier, there's no reason to not buy it. Finally, I'd be willing to spend amounts I can easily afford on things like wall art, furniture, collectibies, etc.

The key to all those is to balance things and not spend more than you can comfortably afford while saving for the short and medium term and investing for the long term, plus having enough to be able to pay for experiences like fun vacations, etc.
