Reading that preprint, I'm struck by the authors using Philistines and Palestinians interchangeably, without justifying this assumption. I'm even more struck by their asserting (counterfactually) that the new state of Israel attacked the surrounding Arab states as soon as it was established. This indicates to me that the authors lack any objective credibility.
