Sorry, no. The Guardrails Approach starts out like the 4% rule, but you can start at 5%. Then, each year you adjust for inflation. However, here's where the big difference comes in - each year, you recalculate what percentage your planned draw is of your portfolio. If it's over 6% (a fifth higher than your target), you cut your draw by 10%. On the flip side, if it's less than 4% (a fifth less than your target) you increase your draw by 10%.
This method lets you spend much more than the 4% rule with lower risk of running out of money.
