From what I read, about 90% of blue-collar jobs that were lost over the past few decades went away due to automation, and only 10% due to off-shoring.

This is easy to understand in the sense that, for many tasks, automation (after an initial setup cost) is cheaper than even overseas labor.

It’s almost a given that many white collar jobs will change over the coming years and decades. While the fraction that get replaced by automation vs. off-shoring may be different than for blue-collar jobs, I suspect automation will be the majority here too.
