I agree and have said many times (and will likely repeat many more) that personal finance is exactly that — personal.

Having said that, I believe the guardrails approach significantly improves on the 4% rule. Does that mean it’s better for everyone? Not necessarily. But without knowing any particular person’s situation, I think it’s more likely than not that it would be so.
