Thank you Jody.
FWIW the issues you raise have come up in different ways. I respond to some questions here:
and here:
I wholeheartedly disagree and am frankly aghast at your saying that Israel is "killing 16,000+ impoverished people in revenge." As I wrote in the above two articles, Israel not only has the right, but the duty to protect its citizens, and that means eradicating Hamas. Unfortunately, Hamas is committing war crimes and crimes against humanity by the bushel, forcing Israel to root them out from where they've embedded themselves among their civilians (and even shooting at their own civilians if they dare try to evacuate out of the IDF's way). The moral responsibility for the inadvertent killing of thousands of Palestinian civilians lies squarely at the feet of Hamas.
As for AIPAC, if you do a bit of research, you'll find that they've donated under $6M in each of the three recent election cycles, so that $100M number (used by such an "illustreous" organization as the New Republic is deeply suspect. Further, if you check who they supported in 2022, I think there are only two republicans, neither of whom is in your list.
As far as AIPAC funding education, that's not their mission. Their mission is to lobby the US Congress for legislature supportive of Israel. Not saying that it's a bad idea to spend good deal of money on educating people, just that it's not AIPAC's job.
I hope the above helps you make more sense of this horrific tragedy as it unfolds. Unfortunately, nothing I can think of will make it less tragic.
