My point here was to acknowledge the systemic issues that get in the way of people getting ahead, but to encourage folks that they can still win.

Investing is certainly a major part of how you do that, but you first have to have a high enough income to be able to set a good chunk of money aside each year toward investments.

That's where paying attention, making the best of opportunities, commitment, and grit will determine if you win or lose.
