The analysis in my article is based on Edmunds data, which will be a broad average. Obviously, not everyone’s experience will perfectly match that. Some will be luckier, some less so. Some have mechanical skills enough to maintain their own vehicles at far lower cost, while others (like me) need to pay someone to do that for us. If what you’re doing works for you, by all means, you should keep doing exactly that. The math of averages is indicative and can serve as a guideline, but nothing beats following your own experience and putting your abilities to good use.
