There's a reason SS PIA gives 90% of AIME up to $1115, 32% up to $6k-odd, and just 10% beyond that (up to the maximum taxable income level). It's intended to replace low income, assist middle income, and just try to avoid ticking off those with high income.
I don't think there's any realistic chance we'll see no SS benefits anytime in the coming decades. However, I'm fairly confident we will see a combination of further delaying FRA, allowing delayed claiming with higher benefits beyond age 70, and a cut in benefits for the wealthy.
