Unfortunately, I'm not at all sure that we have the cohesion and will to make the political changes needed to solve the big problems. It also seems that globalization may have peaked and the pendulum is swinging in the opposite direction. That may be part of what's pressuring prices upward in the developed world, and pressuring growth in the development world. We seem to be stuck in the proverbial "interesting times."
