Unless your current friends are vastly wealthier than mine, moving to a $10-20 million home would make you so much of an outlier that it may well cause some awkwardness.

Sure, your best friends wouldn't likely stop being your friends, and most likely wouldn't stick with you in order to get a financial benefit.

However, would your less-close friends do the same? Maybe. Could you be sure of their motivation? Possibly not.

Similar considerations likely apply to retiring early, traveling often, etc. These aren't insurmountable, but they do require care and thoughtfulness.
