While I agree that Dave Ramsey is highly overrated, I do have to point out that many people do respond well to his "baby steps" process. It isn't the most mathematically efficient or cheapest or savvy, but anything that gets people to stop digging deeper when they're in the hole and start working their way out is better than continuing as they did before.
