While I agree that it appears from the details provided that the young man in question made some choices that didn’t turn out well, there’s no call to call him names (“whiny little bitch”).

None of us is perfect (myself most definitely included). We all make mistakes. Almost all of us also complain from time to time when things don’t turn out as we want and/or expect.

An ounce of empathy, along with perhaps a couple of ounces of helpful suggestions, would be a far more generous response that costs you nothing and provides a contribution to others who may find themselves in similarly trying situations.
